Founder Feature: Tom Fields of the Financial Fitness App

Meet Tom Fields.

Founder & CEO of the Financial Fitness App.

"What you think is best for your business and what your clients true needs are will be totally different. Don't be afraid to change your services if this change will solve your clients biggest needs."

The Financial Fitness App empowers employees through personal budget and investment training - putting a CFP Professional in everyone’s pocket.

Q: What is a problem you are working to solve?

A: Solving the biggest problem in the workplace: money. We put a CFP Professional in every employee's pocket, not just the wealthy. Personal finance is so much more than retirement. Our goal is to help employees navigate all of the financial decisions leading up to retirement, by providing simple easily digestible, and interactive content on the Financial Fitness App.

Q: How did a grant from Main Street Ventures impact you and your business?

A: The MSV Grant will provide my business enough runway to invest in supportive technology and human capital to support our growth. We have transitioned our enterprise healthcare clients to our white label app solution, allowing us to build custom content and messaging tailored to their specific employees. The Grant will give the business enough resources to hire and train a new full-time CFP Professional to support our healthcare market.

Q: What makes Cincinnati a great place to start a business?

A: Willingness to help. I think the biggest challenge any entrepreneur faces is meeting that one influential individual who can put you on the right track. In Cincinnati, it is my opinion that these individuals I am talking about are more than willing to reach out and give you a helping hand. People love helping people.

Q: What does a typical day in your life look like?

A: I wake up at 5 AM and have 90 minutes of 'me' time. This is a non-negotiable! This includes 60 minutes of exercise and 30 minutes of stretching/sauna. I read my Bible and mentally prepare for the day. The next hour includes hanging with my 2-year-old boy and making sure I'm mentally with him before leaving for work. Work starts around 7:45 AM for me. I'm most productive in the morning, so I like to block 9 AM -Noon out for sales calls, and work that directly funds the business. My afternoon is typically more focused on the operations of the business and responding to emails. My wife is an absolute super star, so when I get home from work I make sure to give her all the time she needs to focus on herself. In bed before 9 PM!

Q: What's next for Financial Fitness?

A: We are niching down in the healthcare space by solving their biggest challenges on the recruiting and retention front. We are developing white-labeled apps for these clients, giving them an entirely new way to communicate to their employees about money.

WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR 2022!
