Meet Isis Arrieta-Dennis.
Owner of The Arepa Place.
"Find good mentors. Do not be afraid to lean on them and ask questions. "
The Arepa Place is a small, fast-casual restaurant that specializes in delicious Colombian and Venezuelan dishes.
Q: How did a grant from Main Street Ventures impact you and your business?
A: The Leap Grant will help us purchase our much-needed walk-in freezer/cooler.
Q: What does a typical day in your life look like?
A: It is all about managing my time between family and work. After I get my oldest daughter to kindergarten, I spend time answering emails and trying to complete administrative tasks. The second half of my day is often spent at the restaurant.
Q: What is a lesson you've learned that has shaped your work?
A: I have learned to surround myself with wonderful mentors who have had a huge impact on my business.
Q: What's next for The Arepa Place?
A: For the next year or so, we will be focused on opening our second location and learning how to successfully manage two restaurants.
